Testosterone isocaproate Usage And Synthesis |
Description | Testosterone isocaproate is a testosterone ester with improved bioavailability and metabolic half life compared to the endogenous hormone. It used to testosterone replacement therapy in sterilization, missing testicle, hypopituitarism, and osteoporosis. |
Chemical Properties | White or almost white powder. |
Uses | Testosterone Isocaproate is used in the treatment of male hypogonadism (a condition in which the body does not produce enough testosterone). |
Definition | ChEBI: Testosterone isocaproate is a steroid ester. |
Mode of action | Testosterone Isocaproate is similar to the natural male hormone, testosterone. Testosterone binds to the androgen receptor (AR), and the ligand-receptor complex translocates to the nucleus and binds to androgen response elements (AREs) on chromosomal DNA, thereby modulating transcription of a set of androgen-responsive genes. Testosterone can also be converted to estrogen and has a similar regulatory action on genes containing estrogen response elements (EREs). |
